Tea Time Gift

I hope everyone had a splendid Thanksgiving holiday.  Mine was wonderful!  I spent some time with my family.  It was a small gathering, but it was so nice. 

Today I want to share a cute last minute gift idea.  I really like sipping herbal tea when the weather gets cold.  I have many different flavors in my cupboard.  So if ever I am in need of a simple gift I can open my cupboard and choose some flavors to give.  But what makes this gift special in the packaging.  So here are the details on how I made it.  All materials but the ink are from Papertrey Ink.  The ink is from Stampin' Up!.

 
The first thing I did was measure the tea bags.  They measure 3x3 inches.  So I grabbed some purple cardstock and cut 6 1/4 by 6 1/4 square.  Then I scored 1 7/8 inches in on each side of the square.  Then I cut four of the scores as shown in the picture below.  I glued the box together with Tombo adhesive.

 
I added piece of patterned paper on the bottom and scalloped it. Then I stamped an image from the Tea For Two stamp set, cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals.  I wanted to add a little something tot he tea bags so I punched out a tag, stamped it and attached it to the bag with a staple. 

 
  I inserted the box into a cellophane bag and added a box and a couple tags.  The gift is finished in no time and it looks so special.  It's really great for teachers, neighbors or bring it with you to that last minute Christmas bash.

A Teeny, Tiny Mayflower

Hello and happy Tuesday!  Today I wanted to share a quick post about this really cute idea.

 

I made this tiny Mayflower from half a walnut shell.  Breaking the shell exactly in half was quite a challenge, as you can see... If anyone knows a good way to cut a walnut shell in half without breaking a half dozen please let me know:)  I tried a knife.  That worked pretty well.  I inserted the knife into the top of the walnut and then twisted it.  Sometimes I was successful and broke the shell right in half.  Sometimes I just made a huge mess...

 

I used blue play dough to attach the shell to the blue cardstock.  Now it looks like it is floating in the water.  Then I inserted brown play dough in the shell.  I glued two pieces of white cardstock together and inserted a small toothpick to hold up the "sail".  The toothpick was placed into the brown play dough. 

I made a few of these with my kids.  This craft is easy enough that preschoolers can create there own.  I thought they would make really cute place settings.  I had the thought that guests names can be written on the sail or the blue paper.

Welcoming Turkey Day

Hi all.  Can you believe I haven't made one Christmas card yet?  NOT ONE!!  I have got to get on the ball!  I have been way too busy lately...and my craft room has seen better days:)  But, I am optimistic.  I'll just buckle down and create to my heart's content.  And I will share every bit of it here:) How are you all doing with your holiday card making?

But today I have a Thanksgiving card to share.  I made this for the card swap I participate in.  This Thursday is Thanksgiving in the states.  We are just having a small feast this year.  I just returned from seeing my fam in Florida.  So I am looking forward to having a small, quiet Thanksgiving with my husband and kids here.  We are even going to hunt a Christmas tree that day.  What fun!

The Details: This card is made up of all Stampin' Up! supplies.  I used Kraft cardstock with Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla and the scallop is Real Rust.  The stamp set I used was Autumn Harvest and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I watercolored the image with reinkers that are the same colors as the card stock.  The image is stamped with StazOn and the sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.  I distressed the edges of the Very Vanilla cardstock and I added a brad in the corner.  Then I punched the border of the Kraft paper.

I know...I have been silent for quite a while. I recently attended my sister's wedding in another state. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! I had the honor of being part of the wedding party. My fam and I enjoyed the warm weather and all the wedding festivities. Now we are back:) Hope to have a post soon...
